The Samaritan Woman - Give me a drink

Topic – The Samaritan Woman - Give me a drink

Scripture: JOHN‬ ‭4:7‬ ‭AMP‬‬
“Then a woman from Samaria came to draw water. Jesus said to her, “Give Me a drink”—”

Here, we have a woman who had an encounter with Jesus at an ancestral well (the well of Jacob).

Now this lady had an unpleasant life story. We know that she had had five (5) husbands and the man she was currently living with, was not her husband. All different kinds of speculations can come to mind as to why she was in the situation she found herself in. We are are not here to judge her. What we do know, is that this woman was in need of something that would truly change her life and satisfy her longing, probably for stability.

Little did she know that the very person who could effect that change (her Creator), in the person of Jesus, was right in front of her, asking for a drink of water.

What I believe Jesus was asking of her, was for her to interact with him, who had the power to change her life.

This woman immediately became argumentative. 😨😨I shall pause here. We shall continue on this point in tomorrow’s devotional.

Dear sisters no matter where you are in your life’s journey, Jesus is always trying to engage with you. He doesn’t look at your checkered pass and disqualify you because of it. He wants to fill that longing for peace, health, provision, protection, abundant life and a closer relationship with Him that you are really seeking to fill. Unfortunately, we sometimes try to fill these heartfelt longings with things that cannot satisfy us.

Give Jesus a drink by drawing deep and pouring out your life before Him. Only He, who created you, knows how to fix you. Let Him.

 *Prayer*

Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for reaching out to me in my state of brokenness. Help me not to hold back, but to give to you what you ask of me. Amen
