My mind is a battlefield
twirl around in my head,
but they are only thoughts
that would render me dead.
Thoughts of immorality, drugs,
and all sorts of deadly sin,
but I hear my Master's voice
say "no sin can come in".
So, I plead the blood
and pray my thoughts
to be healed,
because Lord, you know,
my mind is a battlefield.
Today, I want to discuss why your thought life matters.
Years ago in my life, all I wanted to do was to die. I had suffered the tragic loss of my two-year old son, and my life was consumed with thoughts of wanting to die or attempts at dying. Yes I mean suicide! I'm not suggesting that this is where you (the reader) are at, but it doesn't matter what sin it is, it is first conceived in the mind (please refer to James 1:15), this is why we are told to bring every thought into captivity (please see 2 Corinthians 10:5).
The mind is a battlefield every woman must conquer for herself. We are told to "be holy, for I am holy" (Lev 11:45), but we cannot be holy if our thought life includes thoughts of immorality, adultery, drugs, or any other offence to God.
How do we propose to bring our thought life into the thought pattern of Christ? First of all, we must bind the Words of the Lord upon the forefronts of our mind. We must take time to know what the Word of the Lord says on a matter. Meditate upon His Word day and night (Josh 1:8). Secondly, we must only think upon those things that are praiseworthy, lovely, and of good report (Phillipians 4:8)
If you're struggling in your thought life, and you want to reach your high call in Christ, there's only one way: put on the mind of Christ (1 Corinthians 2:16), ask God for His special grace to help you bring your thought life into captivity, that you would think as Christ thinks.
I pray that you will start to grasp the importance of bringing your thoughts into captivity, & that you will seek the Lord's help in doing so.
Eternal blessings in Christ,
Minister Shelley Foster
Happy New New!
ReplyDeleteHope you have had a good rest over the Christmas period and are now looking forward to a prosperous New Year.
A good place to start is reviewing your mind-set as this is where the battle takes place. You would need to win here before you can succeed anywhere else.
Here is a thought-provoking and inspiring ministration by Minister Shelley Foster.
