The Power of Death and Life by Minister Aije Barnes, Nov 2 issue 2 Vol 2

Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. (Proverbs 18:21 KJV)

Sometime ago I said I would share with you on this topic. This has been on my heart to share with you for while, until I had no choice but to do it now. I thank God for this opportunity and pray that the Lord will transform your life through the life-changing power of His word.

This topic is actually focused on the power of your tongue.

Have you ever heard the saying "sticks and stones might break my bones but words will never hurt me"? If only that were true for everyone! Unfortunately it isn't.

The amount of lives that have been destroyed by words spoken by people is truly heartbreaking. Sometimes the speaker may not know the damage they are doing to the listener or even to themselves. Sometimes they do but don't really care and hope for the greater impact. Some people speak out of ignorance whilst others may speak in the manner they do out of habit or deliberate ill-feelings.

The opening scripture above shows that your words are very very powerful as with it you can kill or give life, encourage or destroy. Look at the following scripture:

"And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell. But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. (James 3:6, 8 KJV)

This is evident of how powerful the Tongue is and the damage it can course if it is not used properly! James chapter 3 says a lot about the power of the tongue. I would encourage you to read it.

Let go back to the opening scripture; it says life and death is in the power of the Tongue and those who love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

Depending on how one sees ones cup, one may focus on either the life element of that scripture or the death bit.

The true is both apply, but you need to choose the one you want - life or death.

The Lord said in the scriptures "I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live: (Deuteronomy 30:19 KJV).

You see, He has asked you to choose life so that you and your seed can live.

Do you know that it is your confession that brings about your salvation and not just your belief?

This is what the bible says: "For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. (Romans 10:10, 11, 13 KJV)"

Believing is the first step but confessing is what brings about your salvation.

You may have already had a lot of bad things said to you or perhaps have said unsavoury words to someone else. You can begin from this very moment, to change your world by your confessions. Start to confess what God says about you. Even if you cannot see it yet, continue to confess it into your life. Speak God's word into your situation. Say what God says you have already. Speak His promises over your career, into your children's lives, into your businesses, into your marriage, into your future. Use the power in your Tongue to pull down every stronghold in your life. Use it to cancel the power of death (spiritual death). Use it to release your blessings on every side. Use it to bring life into dead situations. Don't get tired. God's word has life-changing power in it. It never returns to Him void. It accomplishes that which He sends it to do. Don't just believe it, speak it. Jesus said asking, you shall receive, seeking you shall find and knocking and the door shall be opened unto you.

Jesus is our Great High Priest. The bible says He is the High Priest of our profession. A high Priest is one who intercedes to God on our behalf. This is exactly what Jesus is doing for us in heaven now. So if you profess to be a child of God, you need to start believing and confessing His word about you. Let your profession be known by the fruit of your life and evident by the confessions you make or say, because by your fruit you shall be known.

Love God's life-changing word and continue to speak it over and into your life. Change the way you speak so that it is only in line with what God says and begin to enjoy the fruit thereof.

May I encourage you to also speak good words into the lives of those who not so lovely. Bless and pray for them and do not curse them. Remember you will reap what you sow so sow good at every opportunity you have.

Finally, I shall leave you with the word for today: "Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen. (Ephesians 3:20, 21 KJV)".
