Prospering in your soul
3rd John 1 vs 2
Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.
Contrary to what some people may think, God wants you to prosper. He prospers those who love him. He wants you to prosper and be in health as your soul prospers.
The scripture above shows that the state your soul should reflect the health and prosperity of your life. Now if it does not and such a prayer is prayed over you, you may not be in such a hurry to say "Amen" which means "so be it".
God wants to prosper you. As shown in the scripture above, He wants that prosperity to start from within your soul. Good prosperity starts in the soul.
There are people in this world who are very wealthy and appear to be so prosperous but not know God. Don't envy them because Jesus said "what would it profit a man to gain the whole and loose his soul?" A person who is rich physically but poor in their soul is very poor, why? Because their mind is empty and the physical riches will soon be emptied. If you read Psalm 73 you will see clearly that there is no need to be envious of such people. Without Christ in their lives, they are on a slippery road to destruction and their wealth and prosperity have no power to save them.
Prosperity is good but must be the right kind of prosperity.
The following scripture shows you how you can achieve the right kind of prosperity:
The Lord says: "keep therefore the words of this covenant, and do them, that ye may prosper in all that ye do. (Deuteronomy 29:9 KJV). The Words "keep" and " do" are key actions we need to take with God's covenant that releases the right kind of prosperity that starts from the soul. A covenant is a commitment that requires the participation of two parties. God has told us what His commitments are to us in His word in return, the commitments He requires from us which are to "keep" and " do" our part. The doing part must be done with faith because without faith, it is impossible to please God (Heb 11:6) and anything done without faith, is sin (Romans 14 :23).
But a person who is rich in their soul, lives by faith. This faith makes them think rich, behaves rich, has right perspective of life, talks the word of God always, and soon the physical begins to align with their thinking. For instance, a person who has little but believes the word of God that says there is he that scatters (give) and increases, such person will fill his/ her mind with that word and begin to give. Gradually the word will begin to manifest.
Another person may have much but hoard it, because such person has an empty mind.
The state of your mind plays an important role in the pursuit of good health and prosperity and that is why Romans 12:2 says do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Another version says Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. See the part that says let God transform you into a new person by the way you think. How can God do that? By studying his word.
Your thinking matters a lot. I heard a statement that shaped my life ‘’ the greatest enemy to destiny is wrong perception of life, so mind what you think’’,
When you study the word, it shapes your thinking. The word begins to prosper your soul, so when situations arise, you are word loaded.
No soldier goes into battle without loading the gun. So load your spiritual gun with the word of God so when the enemy comes, you will gun him down. In Matthew 4, Jesus was tempted by the devil and because Jesus soul was loaded with the word of God, he was able to tell the devil ‘’ it was written’’. You need to prosper in the soul so that you can tell the devil what is written so that he cannot deceive you and rob you of the riches of your inheritance in Christ.
So charge yourself with the word and like Paul said in Colossians 3:16 "Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly". Read and listen to godly materials. Let the word of God be your bread and begin to enjoy the prosperity God has already made available to you.
