For thine is Kingdom, the Power and the Glory forever, by Aije Barnes April 1 Issue 1 Vol 4

For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. (Matthew 6:13 KJV)

This verse is the last one in Our Lord's Prayer and the last one in this series.

Last time I shared on the first part of the verse. The focus this time, is on the last part.

The following scriptures:  Dan. 2:44; I Cor. 15:25-28; Heb. 1:8., and Isaiah 9: 7), we learn that the Kingdom of God is Jesus' Kingdom too and Jesus is referred to in the book of Revelations 19:16, as the King of kings and the Lord of lords.

We become subjects of His Kingdom when we become children of God. God the Father also makes us, who have become his children, His heirs and joint heirs with his Son as revealed in the following scripture: 'And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. (Romans 8:17 KJV)'.

So you see, the Kingdom of God is our Father's Kingdom. It is the same Kingdom Jesus taught us to pray 'Thy Kingdom come' in the beginning of the Lord's Prayer.

Jesus commissioned us to preach the good news of the Kingdom of God as shown in the following scripture: He sent them {his disciples}to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick. (Luke 9:2 NKJV) and:

Again Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” (John 20:21 NIV)

So what did God send Jesus to do, you may ask?

The answer is right here, where Jesus in the book of Isaiah, reveals what the Father sent him to do saying:

The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of The Lord’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion— to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor. (Isaiah 61:1-3 NIV)

And here, this is what God has sent us to do:

All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. (2 Corinthians 5:18-20 NIV)

We are the ambassadors of Christ sent to preach and bring the good news of the Kingdom of God to those who are in bondage in the Kingdom of darkness through the ministry of reconciliation.

God has equipped us with everything we need to carry out this ministry if reconciliation.

Firstly, God sent Jesus to deliver us from the Kingdom of darkness and bring us into His Kingdom of light. Secondly, for as many as received him (Jesus), to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: (John 1:12 KJV).  Thirdly, Jesus said: Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. (Matthew 5:14, 16 KJV).

Let us always remember and be thankful to God for what he has done for us through Jesus, who He has made us to be to Him in Jesus and always faithfully live for His glory.

For The Kingdom, and the Power and the Glory belongs to our God and Heavenly Father.

Shalom.
