Proverbs 31:24-‘‘She makes linen garments and sells them and supply sashes for the merchants.’’

 

Having a skill that has been sharpened, trained and deployed for income can be an added advantage to a woman. There is a lot to gain when you have a skill. Skills such as cooking baking, makeup artistry, art work, designing, floristry, interior decoration and many more out there help add to your ability to increase your income. As income does not come by complaining that you don’t have much, you have to deploy income generating activities around you.

The woman we are studying has a sewing skill that she has sharpened, trained and is deploying it to raise income. She is now making powerful garments and has become a great fashion designer selling the clothes to merchants. People who sell to others for retailing are likely to have authority over others working under them. The woman in this passage. might have a great factory of workers who are working with her to prepare the garments and because they are well done the merchants buy them.

The first step is to agree with yourself that you have a talent and make a choice to train it and make it market worthy. If you want to use it to bring you income you must sharpen to professional level so that it is in a position to bring you income.

When the skills are not ready for the market and you deploy it, you might send people away instead of raising a customer base. You will attract less people or start out prematurely.

 

Take some time out to sharpen the skill you require.  You can achieve this by doing part time training for maybe 2 hours a week to go for training in your required skill and mentoring. If you commit to this, in few months’ time, you will be heading somewhere and will eventually achieve your goal. When you are fully trained you will be ready to render the service and ask for payment or sell the products for money. You can start out by giving some free products away or do some free service to get yourself going.

 

To keep being relevant with your skills always add value by raising your standards for excellence. In so doing you will maintain your good work and soon start supplying your own merchants like the woman in the scripture. This New Year try to locate a set of your skills and sharpen them to raise your income level.
