Thy Kingdom Come by Aije Barnes Dec 4 Issue 4 Vol 3

Jesus taught us to pray in the Lord's Prayer to say: 'Thy Kingdom come' - that the Kingdom of God comes.

The Kingdom of God is a righteous kingdom and God has made Jesus the overall ruler of His Kingdom.

Here is what the scripture says:

Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever; a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom. You love righteousness and hate wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy. (Psalm 45:6, 7 NIV). God has anointed Jesus to be the ruler of His everlasting kingdom.

A kingdom is a place ruled by a King. In this world there are two kinds of spiritual kingdoms. There is the Kingdom of Light and the kingdom of darkness.

The Kingdom of light is the Kingdom of God ruled by King Jesus who is the King of kings.

The kingdom of darkness is the kingdom of the devil infested with sin and evil.

When mankind fell in the garden of Eden, we became citizens of the kingdom of the devil bound in darkness. But thanks be to God for sending Jesus to deliver us from the kingdom of darkness through his birth, death and resurrection and bringing us who believe and receive Him, into His Kingdom of Light.

Here is what the scripture says concerning this: 'and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light. For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. (Colossians 1:12-14 NIV)

Asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, He (Jesus) replied to them by saying, The kingdom of God does not come with signs to be observed or with visible display, Nor will people say, Look! Here [it is]! or, See, [it is] there! For behold, the kingdom of God is within you [in your hearts] and among you [surrounding you]. (Luke 17:20, 21 AMP)

You are subject to the one who rules over you. You can choose your King and therefore the Kingdom to which you want to belong.

Naturally after the fall, mankind is born into the kingdom of darkness. The choice is whether to remain there or be delivered out if it into the Kingdom of Light.

Therefore choose wisely and be a citizen of the Kingdom of God if you are not one already, because the Kingdom of God will replace the kingdom of darkness and will be established in righteousness forever.

Children of God, set yourself apart as children of the Kingdom of light for the scripture says:

[But] he who commits sin [who practices evildoing] is of the devil [takes his character from the evil one], for the devil has sinned (violated the divine law) from the beginning. The reason the Son of God was made manifest (visible) was to undo (destroy, loosen, and dissolve) the works the devil [has done]. No one born (begotten) of God [deliberately, knowingly, and habitually] practices sin, for God's nature abides in him [His principle of life, the divine sperm, remains permanently within him]; and he cannot practice sinning because he is born (begotten) of God. By this it is made clear who take their nature from God and are His children and who take their nature from the devil and are his children: no one who does not practice righteousness [who does not conform to God's will in purpose, thought, and action] is of God; neither is anyone who does not love his brother (his fellow believer in Christ). For this is the message (the announcement) which you have heard from the first, that we should love one another, (1 John 3:8-11 AMP)

You have a role to fulfil in establishing the Kingdom of God by sharing the love you have received from God in Jesus. One is to pray for God's Kingdom to come as Jesus taught us to and another is to tell others about the good news of His kingdom that they too might be saved. Also, every child of God has been given at least a gift, gifts or talents. Find out what yours is or are and make good use of them for the enrichment of God's Kingdom and to the Glory of His name.

Eternal blessings

  1. Dear friends and beloved in The Lord,

Today is the last day of 2013 and we are only a few hours away from the beginning of the New Year. What a journey it has been! I thank The Lord for bringing us safely to the end of this year and entrust the coming year to His faithful hands believing Him for His divine favour, guidance, protection, provision, presence and peace throughout 2014.

This week's ministration is on The Lord's Prayer - focusing on the Kingdom of God.

Herein, I share with you the importance of praying 'Thy Kingdom come', also how we are called live as subjects of God's Kingdom.

May the Lord bless you as you read and share his word with others.
