THE SPIRIT FILLED WOMAN By Ethel Gonthi Viyazyi, WPH Coordinator Malawi March 1 Issue 1

B

eing aware of the significance of the Holy Spirit in our daily walk with Christ is of great importance, once we surrender our lives to Him.  The Hebrew word translated spirit of God in Genesis 1v12 also means, “Power of God”, “A wind from God”, or an “Awesome wind”. This symbolises the invisibility of God. No one can see the wind let alone state its next direction, but one can only feel its presence and be mystified by its next direction, the same applies to God.

Winston Churchill once used the phrase, “A riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma.’’ If you describe the Holy Spirit in  like manner it means you are unaware of what He is all about.

John 1v12 states that “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even those who believe in His name; we all know that the “Him” in this verse is referring to Christ, the word. But, when we receive the word, the story of our becoming children of God does not end there. Romans 8v14 states that, “For all who are led by the spirit of God are sons of God. This means that we are children of God when the Holy

Spirit abides in us. Romans 8v15c-16 refers to the Holy Spirit as the spirit of adoption, “But you received the spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” The spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God”. As soon as we believe, God sends His spirit to abide in us as a sign that we are His, that He has adopted us. In other words, the Holy Spirit is His seal. Ephesians 1v13-14 reads, “And you also became God’s people when you heard the true message, the good-news that brought you salvation. You believed in Christ and God put His stamp of ownership on you by giving you the Holy Spirit He had promised. The spirit is the guarantee that we shall receive what God has promised His people, and this assures us that God will give complete freedom to those who are His.
The 13th verse of Ephesians 1 makes it clear to us that we Christ, signifying that we now belong to Christ. This answers the most common question, “
“How much time does it take from the time of conversion to the time when one receives the Holy Ghost?” But just receiving the Holy Ghost is not enough, if we are to accomplish exploits, we ought to be completely filled with the Holy Ghost.  How? By listening to the Holy Spirit in us. He is the spirit of revelation of the knowledge of God, who can fill us and the eyes of our hearts will be enlightened. The Holy Ghost acts as an eye opener, who opens our understanding of God’s truths in His word. (Ephesians 1v16...” I do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers, that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the father of glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Him, having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which He has called you ”.
In Ephesians 5v18 we read, “And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the spirit’’. We are commanded to be filled with the spirit, but this does not mean that we receive a quarter or half of the Holy Spirit when we receive Christ. To be filled with the spirit means to reach a point of total surrender to God, where we are aware of the guidance of the Holy spirit in our lives, where we can feel His presence, the Holy spirit can even take control of tongues and make us speak in tongues of men and of angels, where we are filled with understanding of spiritual matters just like it is written in Colossians 1v9-11, “ For this reason also, since the day we heard it, we do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy;

When the spirit of God takes control of our lives, a new nature emerges in us and we bring forth the fruits of the spirit. It is not just a matter of saying that we are spirit filled but our fruits should show.
 “But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, Kindness, goodness, Faithfulness, gentleness, self control; against such things there is no law...” (Galatians 5v22-23).
Another evidence of being spirit filled is fellowship with other believers. We cannot claim the fullness of the spirit if we are not on speaking terms with our fellow believers. Ephesians 5v1 Speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs.  A spirit filled believer also likes to glorify God through singing and making melody.   Ephesians 5v1, singing and making melody within our hearts to the Lord.  A spirit filled Christian always and for everything gives thanks to God.
 Ephesians 5v19…Always giving thanks for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God, even the Father; and be subject to one another in the fear of Christ.
Being spirit filled helps you to see the victory and power that we have over Satan, sin and all the powers of darkness.
Power women, let us be filled with the spirit of God, let us position ourselves under the Holy Spirit’s guidance for the spirit of God symbolizes the presence of God (Genesis 1v12). The power behind the spirit is God, and the God behind the power is Spirit. God bless you watch out next power hour mail!! Check our blog womenspowerhour.blogspot.com for more articles.

  1. Dear Woman of God,

    I thank the Lord for the provision of this ministration!...

    As a child of God, you have the Spirit of God living in you. Jesus sent Him as a comforter. He will also reveal the things of Christ to you and lead you if you let Him. As many as are led by the Sprit of God are the children of God. I pray that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the father of glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Him, having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which He has called you ”. May the Lord bless you as you read this fabulous ministration written Minister Ethel Viyazyi - our Malawi Coordinator.

    God bless you!
