Knowing God's Name Part 6, by Aije Barnes, Nov 3, Issue 1, Vol 5

“Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore will I deliver him; I will set him on high, because he knows and understands My name [has a personal knowledge of My mercy, love, and kindness–trusts and relies on Me, knowing I will never forsake him, no, never]. He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. With long life will I satisfy him and show him My salvation.” ‭‭Psalm‬ ‭91:14-16‬ ‭AMP‬‬

Welcome to the sixth and second to last part of 'Knowing God's Name' series.

Here I share with you four names of God:

YAHWEH-ELOHIM: "LORD God" (Genesis 2:4Psalm 59:5) – a combination of God’s unique name YHWH and the generic “Lord,” signifying that He is the Lord of
Lords.

When we recognise this name of God that reveals Him as the Lord of Lords, it pales all other authorities, principalities and powers into insignificance. The bible also reveals that Jesus is the King of kings and Lord of lords. God has also exalted the name of Jesus as shown in the following scriptures:

“Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” ‭‭Philippians‬ ‭2:9-11‬ ‭NIV‬‬

So we have our Heavenly Father whose name is Hallowed (Holy) and is to be revered. We as His children have been given authority in the name of Jesus to cast out demons and heal the sick. Jesus also said if we ask the Father for anything in his name, he will do it. “If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.” John‬ ‭14:14‬ ‭KJV.

Knowing and understanding this will enable us to use the authority we have in the name of Jesus to live victorious lives knowing the Jesus has already made us more than a conqueror. This implies and correctly so, that in this life we will have tribulations but we can be cheerful because Jesus has already overcome the world for us.

EL ELYON: “Most High" (Deuteronomy 26:19) – derived from the Hebrew root for “go up” or “ascend,” so the implication is of that which is the very highest. El Elyon denotes exaltation and speaks of absolute right to lordship.

The God and Father of Lord our Jesus Christ is the Most High God. There is none greater than Him.

YAHWEH-ROHI: "The Lord Our Shepherd" (Psalm 23:1) – After David pondered his relationship as a shepherd to his sheep, he realized that was exactly the relationship God had with him, and so he declares, “Yahweh-Rohi is my Shepherd. I shall not want” (Psalm 23:1).

If you are a child of God, The Lord is your Shepherd. Psalms 23 give a perfect illustration of what this really means. Please read it. You will see that as our Shepherd, he makes provision for us, leads, restores comforts, guides and protects us. When you acknowledge him as your Shepherd you will never be afraid of what life might throw at you because you know Who is in control and looks after you.

YAHWEH-SHAMMAH: "The Lord Is There” (Ezekiel 48:35) – the name ascribed to Jerusalem and the Temple there, indicating that the once-departed glory of the Lord (Ezekiel 8—11) had returned (Ezekiel 44:1-4).

Isn't this beautiful! The Lord is there! Right where you are and where were and where you are going to be! He is ever present. Even the psalmist in Psalms chapter 23 declared in verse 4: “Yes, though I walk through the [deep, sunless] valley of the shadow of death, I will fear or dread no evil, for You are with me; Your rod [to protect] and Your staff [to guide], they comfort me.” Psalm‬ ‭23:4‬ ‭AMP‬‬

He was not scared because he knew no matter how dark and dreadful the valley he was passing through was, the Lord was there to protect and guide him.

He is also there for you too.

Knowing and understanding God's name sets you apart from other people and positions you in high places as stated in the opening verse.

Shalom.
