Knowing God's Name Part 4, by Aije Barnes, October 3, issue 1 Vol 5

“Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore will I deliver him; I will set him on high, because he knows and understands My name [has a personal knowledge of My mercy, love, and kindness–trusts and relies on Me, knowing I will never forsake him, no, never]. He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. With long life will I satisfy him and show him My salvation.” ‭‭Psalm‬ ‭91:14-16‬ ‭AMP‬‬

Welcome to Part 4 of Knowing God's Name.

I pray that the LORD would open your hearts and give you understanding into just what the verses above mean to you! It is truly life transforming. It is filled with promises which if you don't know them, you can't claim them.

It is just like being on a cruise ship where everything is paid for in advance for you, in order for you to enjoy the full benefits with peace of mind until you reach your destination. If however you have boarded this cruise ship unaware of this benefit freely available to you but you merely survive the trip by sipping from your single bottle of water plus any that mercifully falls from the sky during your long journey and a loaf of bread that with time, not only runs low, but goes stale, and find yourself sleeping roughly when the best room was preserved for you, how will you feel when you suddenly find out what you missed after you have reached your destination and this was a one off trip?

Hopefully this analogy would give you a snippet of why it is so important to know God's name.

The names of God I will share briefly with you today are:

YAHWEH-JIREH: "The Lord Will Provide" (Genesis 22:14) – the name memorialized by Abraham when God provided the ram to be sacrificed in place of Isaac.

Are you in need? Ask and Trust God for His provision. There is nothing too hard for Him to do. He is still a miracle working God. Don't stop asking until you receive your answer.

YAHWEH-RAPHA: "The Lord Who Heals" (Exodus 15:26) – “I am Jehovah who heals you” both in body and soul. In body, by preserving from and curing diseases, and in soul, by pardoning iniquities.

These are not empty words. If God did not mean it, He would not have said it. If the Lord has not told you that He will not heal you, then expect your healing. God heals and deals with different people differently. Don't give up asking and waiting until you receive His answer for you. There is no such thing as unanswered prayers but there are plenty of abandoned ones! Don't let yours be one of them!

YAHWEH-NISSI: "The Lord Our Banner" (Exodus 17:15), where banner is understood to be a rallying place. This name commemorates the desert victory over the Amalekites in Exodus 17.

Life is full of various trials and challenges. However knowing that the Lord is our Banner gives us the confidence that the victory is already ours. This is not to say that the devil will not stop trying to scare you, but you must not be afraid. This is is what Jesus says:

I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace and confidence. In the world you have tribulation and trials and distress and frustration; but be of good cheer [take courage; be confident, certain, undaunted]! For I have overcome the world. [I have deprived it of power to harm you and have conquered it for you.]”
‭‭John‬ ‭16:33‬ ‭AMP‬‬

Knowing God's name give you peace of mind and enables you to enjoy your journey with and in the Lord.

More next time...

Shalom
