Have you ever seen a big strong elephant tethered by a rope to a stake in the ground and wondered why it just didn’t pull the stake up and walk away from it?

In order to keep an elephant tame and under control it is trained, when young, by tying a rope or chain around one of its back legs and attaching it to a large stake driven into the ground or a sturdy fixed object, like a tree. Over a period of time the young elephant learns that no amount of pulling, even to the point of injury, will render its freedom; so eventually it gives up trying.  It is said that elephants have good memories; when the elephant matures and becomes an adult when a rope or chain is placed round its leg it becomes immobilised by its memory.  You and I know that the elephant it strong enough to break free from its bounds; but the elephant doesn’t know it.  The elephant’s memory is so strong that even if the rope or chain wasn’t attached to the stake it still would not try to escape!  The elephant believes that it’s powerless; it doesn’t know that the strength and power it has as an adult would break whatever it was tied to the other end!

John 8:32 says “And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” NLT

Are you still tethered by chains; ones you’ve placed on yourself deserved and undeserved, or inherited from your fore fathers or you didn’t realise you had on until you found yourself unable to move.  It doesn’t matter what type of chain is tethering you, you need to be break FREE from it.  Don’t be like the   elephant; know that the chain that is no longer tied.  You may still be feeling the impression of the chain, but know that it’s not there; it’s like when you wear a hat and remove it, it’s no longer on your head but it’s left an impression.  Take a close look at the situation to see it for what it really is a lie.  Use the power in the word of God to BREAK FREE!   Align your life with God’s word..

John 8:36 says “So if the Son sets you free, you are truly free.” NLT
